Data and AI Ethics Workshop

Date:

Fri:

14 November 2025

Location:

Munich (near LMU main building)

Workshop Information

"Data and AI Ethics" will be a full-day workshop happening on November 14, 2025, at LMU Munich, organized by the recently established Data Ethics Initiative at the LMU Department of Statistics in collaboration with the Munich Center for Machine Learning (MCML).

We hope to build inter- and transdisciplinary bridges by bringing together scholars who might otherwise not often have the chance to engage in dialogue on data ethics. We therefore invite anyone interested to join the conversation, regardless of disciplinary or methodological background.

Some of themes to be explored in the workshop include:

  • Embedding data ethics into practice and education
  • Power and governance
  • Research ethics, AI ethics, and their relation to data ethics
  • Identification of current gaps and needs in data ethics
  • Epistemic and ontological perspectives on data

Submission and Registration:

If you would like to present at the workshop, please contact us by September 21, 2025 – or earlier, as submissions are considered on a rolling basis.

The workshop is free of charge, but registration is required as slots are limited. Registration is open until November 1, 2025.
